Fake notes worth Rs 1 Lakh seized in Guwahati

Guwahati: A team of the Assam Police has seized a huge quantity of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) amounting to Rs 1 lakh along with several objectionable items from various locations in Guwahati and Boko.

A statement by the police said a team of the police based on an intelligence input, a raid was conducted in connection with printing and circulation of fake currencies. During the raids, a woman, Mamoni Roy Boro was arrested, and then based on her lead, two printers and one desktop computer suspected to be used in printing currency notes were seized from the house of a Mizo Lady namely Lucy at Mathura Nagar, Dispur.

The statement further added during further investigation, the police conducted another raid at the house of Ajmal Haque in Chakla Barua of Boko and his rented room at Fatasil Ambari. From these two places the police recovered suspected fake currency notes amounting to Rs 1 lakh and 9 confirmed fake currency notes.

Along with these particular items, the police further recovered one printer, heat sealer machine, office paper cutter, black paper, reams of JK super white bond paper, polymer paper along with SIM cards, ATM Cards, various suspected identity cards, Assam Police t-shirt, and media passes in the name of the accused.
The police further added that accused Ajmal is still absconding but his wife has been detained for interrogation regarding the entire case.
