Family of Accused Plead Innocence in Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case
National: The family members of Raj Singh Kushwaha, one of the accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, have come forward pleading his innocence. Raj, 20, is among the four individuals arrested in connection with the murder that has rocked Meghalaya and drawn national attention.
Raj’s sister said, “Vicky and Raj both are my brothers. They can never do something like this. My brother Raj did not go anywhere. You can ask the people at his office. My only demand is that my brother should be released. He is not involved in the murder. My brother is innocent.” Echoing similar sentiments, Raj’s mother said, “My son cannot do anything like this. He is just 20 years old… He is my everything… My son worked in Sonam’s brother’s factory… He is being falsely accused.”
The family has urged investigators to look into Raj’s workplace records and colleagues for verification of his whereabouts. They request the government to prove his innocence, claiming that he is being falsely accused.
Meanwhile, Sonam Raghuvanshi, the victim’s wife and one of the accused, is expected to land at Guwahati airport on June 10. She will then be taken to Meghalaya for further investigation and legal proceedings, as the state has secured a seven-day transit custody. The Shillong Police will transport Sonam from Ghazipur to Patna by road, and from Patna, she will be flown to Guwahati on a commercial flight.
