Famous Bengali Filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta No More

The famous Bengali Filmmaker “Buddhadeb Dasgupta” passes away at 77 in South Kolkata on Thursday. He was suffering from Kidney disease and undergoing dialysis.

Buddhadeb Dasgupta was conferred The National Film Award for best Featured films in Bengali for “Dooratwa (1978)” and “Tahader Katha (1993)”. He was also honored with Best Director Award for his films Uttara (2000) and Swapner Din (2005).

Dasgupta was also remembered for his directorial work in “Bagh Bahadur (1989)”, “Charachar (1993)”, “Lal Darja(1997)”, “Mondo Meyer Upakhyan (2002)” and “Kalpurush (2008)”.

He also known for his poetry and his poetic work which published includes Suitcase, Himjog, Govir Araley and many more. His death comes as a great loss for the Film fraternity.
