Farewell ceremony for outgoing Prez Ram Nath Kovind held in Parliament
Guwahati: President Ram Nath Kovind’s farewell ceremony took place at Parliament’s Central Hall on Saturday with the participation of Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla.
The 15th President of India, Droupadi Murmu will take the oath of office on Monday. She will hold the nation’s highest constitutional position for the first time ever by a member of a tribe.
President Ram Nath Kovind’s farewell ceremony was also attended by members of Parliament.
Modi threw a banquet in Kovind’s honour on Friday. Chief ministers of several states, members of the Union Cabinet, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
There was a sizable representation of people from all regions of the nation at the event, including numerous Padma laureates and tribal chiefs.
