Fatal Collision in Meghalaya Claims One Life, Injures Child

Northeast Desk, 10th June: A tragic accident occurred in Lad Umroi, Meghalaya, on June 10, resulting in one fatality and a child sustaining injuries. Tripash Sangma lost his life in the collision between a truck and a two-wheeler, while his son, who was also on the scooty, was injured.

Reports indicate that the collision was caused by the 14-wheeler truck driver, identified as Sunil Kumar Jha, who allegedly made a sharp turn. Despite efforts to stop the two-wheeler, Sangma was crushed underneath the truck.

The injured child was promptly transferred to Umsning CHC for medical treatment, while Sangma’s body was taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for further examination. The request by the bereaved relatives to forego the postmortem examination was granted by the Additional District Magistrate of Nongpoh.

More details on the incident are awaited as investigations continue.
