Guwahati: In a tragic turn of events, a middle-aged man in the Tinsukia district of Assam was arrested after being accused of killing his own son because the latter had a drinking problem.
Information indicates that the deceased son had a long history of tormenting his parents and was an alcoholic.
The accused father identified as Dilip Arandhar allegedly killed his son on Monday by strangling him to death with a gamusa with the assistance of his wife.
“He was a daily drinker and harrassed us on many occassions. He burned some of my clothes too, which the cops had already seen when they arrived at my house. He also threatened to burn the house, which got me infuriated,” the accused father said.
The deceased son has been identified as Anant Arandhar.
The accused father turned himself in to the Dhola police after the incident and described the entire ordeal.
Meanwhile, the wife of the slain boy has urged with the authorities to prosecute the accused father-mother duo.
