National Desk, 19 June: In a shocking incident, a father allegedly killed his daughter and her lover and later disposed of their bodies in the Chambal River in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
The tragic incident came to light after the accused made a confession. After that, a police team travelled to Reh Ghat which is located along the Chambal River and deployed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and divers to recover the dead.
According to Ambah SDPO Parimal Singh Mehra, Rajpal Tomar who is a resident of Ratan Basai village reported his daughter missing on June 3. Family relatives of the murdered youth submitted a missing person’s report the very following day, on June 4 and a resident of Pura Barbai village did the same.
The cops began conducting a search based on their complaint. Due to the similarity in timing and age of the two victims authorities were suspicious and retrieved the pair’s phone information.
They discovered during this that the couple was familiar with one another and frequently communicated.
The victim girl’s father Rajpal Tomar was interrogated over the course of the investigation and admitted to the crime saying that he had killed both his daughter and her boyfriend before tossing them into the river.
“The prime reason behind the incident is said to be the alleged relationship of the victims against the will of the girl’s family as both are from the Tomar community,” the police said.
Police are looking into the situation and attempting to determine how many persons were involved. But until the bodies are found, they continued, a conviction for murder cannot be made with certainty.
The case is still being investigated by the police.
