Father-Son duo from Tripura shot in Mizoram
Guwahati: A 40-year-old man and his teenage son were shot at by the Mizoram Police when they had entered the neighbouring state for jhum cultivation.
The father-son duo were the residents of the North Tripura district. The father named Ramuhai Reang along with his 14-year-old son, Rathindra, and other locals of the Kanchanpur subdivision often visited the neighbouring state for farming.
Following the firing by the police both of them sustained injuries. However, the reason behind firing is still not clear.
Meanwhile, the Mizoram police claimed that the father-son duo entered the state with drugs.
Ramuhai was able to flee and return to Tripura, but his son was apprehended by the Mizoram Police, according to Chakraborty.
“We’ve learned that the boy underwent surgery in an Aizawl hospital.” According to the SP, his status is stable.
Ramuhai is being treated at the district’s Dharmanagar Hospital.
According to the SP, a case has been filed at the Vangmun police station, and an investigation is underway, while additional forces have been deployed to the interstate boundary, where the situation is tense but under control.
