ENTERTAINMENT: Amid ongoing speculation about her personal life, actor Fatima Sana Shaikh has addressed rumours surrounding her relationship status, firmly putting to rest whispers linking her to fellow actor Vijay Varma. Speaking at the trailer launch of her upcoming film Aap Jaisa Koi, Fatima clarified that she is not dating anyone. “No one is there. No good guys. They exist only in films,” she quipped, a statement that drew considerable attention for its candid tone and clear message.
The event also saw Fatima discussing the core themes of her new film, which explores the idea of equality in love. Sharing her perspective on what defines a respectful relationship, she said, “The idea of equality of love is where two people respect each other, and they will listen to each other and won’t deny it. I think that is an equal relationship now, and compromises need to be made by both.” She added that entering a partnership shouldn’t mean losing oneself: “When you come into a partnership, you work towards the relationship without losing yourself. I think that is the way to have a successful relationship.”
Starring opposite R Madhavan, Fatima expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, noting that the role offered her the chance to portray a deeply layered character. “I liked the story of the film, it’s an honest story. I’ve never played a layered character like this in a love story. Who wouldn’t want to work with Madhavan? I was so excited about working with Madhavan,” she said. The trailer, unveiled on Wednesday, received a warm response, with the film set to premiere on Netflix on July 11.
Fatima’s packed release schedule continues with Metro… In Dino, which hits theatres a week later. Billed as a spiritual successor to 2007’s Life In A Metro, the ensemble cast includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and others. She will also share screen space with Vijay Varma in Ul Jalool Ishq, which wrapped up filming last year. Her latest comments affirm that her connection with Varma is purely professional, putting to rest any lingering rumours about their personal relationship.
