Ferry Carrying Over 50 Passengers Stranded Near Majuli

Guwahati: As many as 50 passengers stranded a ferry in Majuli Assam got stuck mid-stream on the Brahmaputra River on Sunday.

According to reports, the incident occurred as the ferry was travelling from Jorhat’s Nimati Ghat to Majuli.

The ferry that became stranded on the Brahmaputra was known as “Panoi.”

Additionally, it has come to light that the ferry was diverted due to erosion at Kamalabari.

It became stranded on the way back with more than 50 people inside.

It should be mentioned that on October 28, another ferry with over 100 passengers on board was left stranded in the middle of the Brahmaputra river close to Majuli in a related event.

Along with the passengers there were also 40 motorcycles and eight cars on the ship.

The ferry which was scheduled to depart at 8 am, left at 9 am due to the heavy fog. However, it became stuck in the middle of the river after leaving the Aflamukh ferry ghat.
