Ferry Services Suspended as Brahmaputra River Swells, Guwahati Faces Heavy Rainfall
Guwahati, 6th May: Ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati have been temporarily suspended due to the escalating water level of the Brahmaputra River. The suspension comes in the wake of incessant rainfall in the region over the past 24 hours, contributing to the surge in water levels.
The city of Guwahati has been grappling with heavy rainfall and subsequent waterlogging, exacerbating the situation with artificial floods in several areas. The downpour, coupled with storms, has left parts of the city inundated and residents stranded.
In response to the adverse weather conditions, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued Orange and Yellow alerts across various parts of the state and neighboring Northeastern states. Residents have been cautioned against venturing into low-lying areas as the water level is anticipated to rise further.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging residents to exercise caution and adhere to safety advisories. Efforts are underway to mitigate the impact of the inclement weather and ensure the safety and well-being of the populace amidst the challenging conditions.
