FESA and SDRF Teams Rescue Thousands as Assam Battles Devastating Floods
Guwahati, 7th July: Amidst severe floods ravaging Assam, the Fire and Emergency Services Assam (FESA) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have rescued 5,677 people and 448 animals, highlighting their crucial role in the ongoing disaster response.
The devastating floods in Assam have impacted over 24.5 lakh people across 30 districts, with major rivers breaching danger levels and inundating urban areas in Kamrup (Metropolitan), Kamrup, and Dibrugarh districts. The flood situation has been particularly dire in Kaziranga National Park, resulting in the tragic loss of 114 wild animals, though 95 have been successfully rescued.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has pledged support to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) actively engaged in rescue and relief operations. These teams are working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of the floods on affected communities.
The Assam Police, using social media platform X, have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens during these challenging times. As the flood situation continues to unfold, efforts remain focused on providing immediate relief and support to those affected by the disaster.
