Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Highlights Positive Economic Transformation and Inclusive Policies in Interim Budget 2024-25
National Desk, 1st February: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during the presentation of the Union Interim Budget 2024-25, emphasized the profound positive transformation witnessed in the Indian economy over the last decade. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since 2014, she acknowledged the challenges faced by the government and highlighted its commitment to inclusive development with the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
In her address, Sitharaman emphasized the highest priority for four sectors: Garib (poor), Mahilayen (women), Yuva (youth), and Annadata (farmers). She further highlighted the achievements of the Skill India Mission, which has trained, upskilled, and re-skilled millions of youth while establishing new ITIs and higher learning institutions.
Addressing ‘Nari Shakti,’ the Finance Minister highlighted a 28% increase in female enrollment in higher education over the past decade, with significant representation in STEM courses. She noted the rising participation of women in the workforce, underscoring legislative measures such as making triple talaq illegal, reservation of 1/3 seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies, and prioritizing women in PM Awas Yojana housing schemes, all contributing to enhancing their dignity.
