FIR Against KMSS and SMSS Leaders
Guwahati : An FIR has been filed against the leaders of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti and Hailakandi district Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association affiliated to CITU and AIFAWAH by the Hailakandi district administration of Assam for allegedly violating COVID-19 protocols.
The FIR under Section 143, 341, 353, 269, 270 IPC and section 3 of epidemic diseases act, sec 51(A), 51(B) of disaster management act, 2005 was lodged with Hailakandi Sadar police station.
According to reports, three persons has been arrested so far and the arrested people have been identified as Forid Uddin Laskar, the secretary of SMSS, Asrafull Alom Barbhuiya, the joint secretary of SMSS and Amir Hussain Barbhuiya is the joint secretary of KMSS.
It is further stated that 231 Anganwadi workers and helpers were also arrested but later released on PR bond under section 107 CrPC.
As per information, the members of KMSS, SMSS and Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a dharna in front of the district social welfare office on Saturday in support of their various demands and has also submitted a memorandum to the state chief minister enlisting their demands.
According to secretary of the association Madhumita Gupta the protest was staged liberally and their demands are genuine.
She further said that around 3000 Anganwadi workers and helpers of the district have not been paid their dues form the last six months and are being forced to perform all sorts of duties and they have fallen into a huge crisis.
Madhumita also alleged that the case is a conspiracy to stop the workers movement and it have been slapped against the workers for allegedly violating the COVID-19 protocols.
In the memorandum the workers demanded to institute a magisterial inquiry into the various activities of the department such as supply of furniture etc. to the Anganwadi centres without tender.
While a senior police official said that the matter is under investigation. He further claimed that the leaders of KMSS and SMSS have threatened to launch a robust movement if their arrested members are not released.
