Fisheries Dept Receives Notice from Gauhati HC Over Illegal Recruitments
Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation and Directorate of Fisheries after hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over an illegal appointment.
Jaidev Das, who filed the PIL, complained to the court about unauthorized appointments made by the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation.
The petition was filed in order to have these officers’ illegitimate appointments investigated and against the top authorities.
The Fisheries Development Corporation and Directorate of Fisheries were served notice by the court after the PIL hearing.
As many as 217 employees were recruited illegally under the then chairman of the corportation Ramakant Deuri.
However, no action was taken against the top officer who made the recruitment, even though the employees were fired after learning about the hiring process.
For this reason, a PIL was launched in order to take legal action against the main accused that was responsible for the recruitment.
It should be noted that the court already ordered that the guilty officer involved in the “Matsya Jagaran- Ghare Ghare Phukuri Ghare Ghare Maach” Scheme, which entailed a scam involving 100 rupees, face punishment.
