Guwahati: A team of Guwahati Police has arrested five persons from Noonmati for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking and peddling on Thursday night.
The police team stated that they had seized at least 50 vials along with 16 grams of suspect heroin. Apart from this, the police also recovered 12 mobile phones, 15 syringes, and 107 empty vials from the possession of the accused peddlers.
The police in a statement identified the accused persons as Ankurjyoti Das, Md Rahul Hussain, Ajit Saikia, Rajib Rajbangshi, and Kishor Sarmah.
All of them are being questioned by the police and further investigation related to the case are on.
It may be mentioned that over the past few months, the Assam Police have initiated several crackdowns on people involved in the illegal drug trade.
