Five Killed in Massive Fire in Kerala
Guwahati: Five members of a family including an eight-month-old toddler were killed in a massive fire at a house in Varkala town of Kerala on Tuesday.
The incident took place at around 1.45 am on Tuesday at Ayanthiyil of the town.
In the incident, despite the dead of the five members one other sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for further treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Prathapan (62), Sherly (53), Abhirami (25), Akhil (29) and Riyan, Abhirami’s eight-month-old son.
According to reports, Prathapan was a vegetable vendor. He had been doing business in Varkala for a while.
Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Technical Director M Noushad said that the fire could have erupted from the TV hall due to a short circuit.
It needs to mentioned that at least five bikes were destroyed and the air conditioners in the house were also destroyed in the blaze.
