Five Myanmar Nationals Arrested In Manipur

Guwahati: Five people from Myanmar were arrested by Manipur police, including a woman, for residing there without authorization.

Based on specific information, the Myanmar nationals were captured in Ngathal Village in the Churachandpur district.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the CCP PS team began a search operation after learning with certainty that the Myanmar nationals were present.

“They were detained after following the proper procedures because they were unable to present any proof of identification or citizenship. The examination of a Suo motto case has been taken up,” he continued.

As many as 80 Myanmar nationals were nabbed by Manipur police this year, including women and children, who illegally crossed the border and had been staying in the Churachandpur district.
