Floods in Assam’s Karimganj District Close 270 Schools, Convert 93 into Relief Camps

Guwahati, 27th June: Severe flooding in Assam’s Karimganj district has led to the closure of 270 schools, with 93 of these institutions being repurposed as temporary relief camps to shelter those displaced by the disaster. District Commissioner Mridul Yadav has announced that the affected schools will remain closed until June 29.

Despite the extensive disruption, the district commissioner’s office has confirmed that all other government and non-government educational institutions will continue their operations as usual.

The district administration is actively managing the flood crisis, providing essential aid and support to the affected population. The relief camps established in schools are equipped to offer temporary shelter and basic necessities, ensuring the safety and well-being of displaced residents.

Residents and students are advised to stay updated on further announcements from the district administration regarding the status of educational institutions and ongoing flood relief efforts.
