Foetus Left In A Box Sends Locals In Assam’s Golaghat Into Frenzy

Guwahati: The recovery of a human foetus early on Thursday morning has created a frenzy among the people in Golaghat district of Assam.

Initial reports state that at around 3 am last night, the foetus was abandoned in a cardboard box by the side of the road.

According to the locals, a woman who had been complaining of stomach aches visited a nearby clinic and gave birth in the early hours of last night. Locals suspected the foetus was abandoned after that since it might have been the result of an unintended pregnancy.

The incident took place at Rangajan Bazar in the Golaghat district of Assam.

Local law enforcement arrived at the scene in the interim and started an investigation into the occurrence. Locals have reportedly accused a young woman working in a tea garden of being responsible.

A villager said, “We spotted it this morning. Someone else noticed it first and called me. I was astounded to see it when I arrived at the location.”

Asked to elaborate on it, a woman nearby said, “We found this foetus, which is around eight months into its development. We did not see it but a woman had come to the nearby clinic complaining of stomach ache.”

“We believe that this is her child. Since we don’t know much, the clinic’s doctor will be able to aid,” the woman added.
