For Chhattisgarh Congress, Akbar is more important than Bhupesh Baghel: BJP Leader Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, 2nd November: In a significant political development, Assam Chief Minister and prominent BJP leader, Himanta Biswa Sarma, held a meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki.

Sarma’s visit to Chhattisgarh comes in preparation for the State Assembly elections, where he is actively campaigning for the BJP.

Addressing the media, Himanta Biswa Sarma made some noteworthy remarks. He mentioned that, according to the information he had received, the Congress party has decided to remove Bhupesh Baghel’s name from their banners and posters.

Sarma, drawing from his 22-year stint with Congress, stated that this development had occurred over the last ten days. He also predicted that after the elections, Congress may gradually or immediately remove Baghel from a leadership role.

Regarding a notice from the Election Commission related to his ‘Akbar’ remark, Sarma responded by noting that the Congress had filed a complaint when he mentioned Akbar. He questioned the emphasis on Akbar, suggesting that it would have been more relevant to file a complaint if he had spoken against TS Singh Deo, Baghel, or any Congress leader. His comments implied that, in the view of Chhattisgarh Congress, Akbar seemed to hold greater importance than Bhupesh Baghel. Sarma asked, “Why is Akbar so dear to you (Congress)?” This statement adds an intriguing dimension to the political landscape ahead of the Chhattisgarh State Assembly elections.
