Forest Official Injured During Elephant Attack In Assam’s Dibrugarh
Guwahati: Yet another incident of man-animal conflict has come to fore wherein a forest official was critically injured during an elephant attack in Dibrugarh district of Assam.
The incident took place at Kamargaon village of the district in wee hours on Tuesday.
The injured officer has been identified as 34-year-old Bastav Borkotoky. He served as the Beat Officer of Namrup range.
DFO BV Sandeep, Dibrugarh Forest Division informed that the forest official met with an accident while on duty and attempting to chase away a herd of marauding elephants.
The DFO added, “He was rushed to a private nursing home in Dibrugarh for immediate medical attention.”
According to the nursing home’s doctors, he is currently under observation.
It may be mentioned that the man-elephant conflict in Assam has been one of the major issues as most of the time it leads to the death of either the jumbos or humans.
