Former Assam Minister Ardhendu Kumar Dey passes away at 84
Guwahati: Former Assam Minister, Ardhendu Kumar Dey breathed his last at the age of 84 in Guwahati on Wednesday.
The former Congress leader was admitted in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he was undergoing treatment.
He had served as a minister in the Assam cabinet and had the ministries of supplies and irrigation.
Dey had graduated from the University of Calcutta with an MBBS. He was elected as MLA for the first time in Assam Legislative Assembly election from Hojai constituency in 1991.
He was a member of Congress and an MLA between 1991 to 2006. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in April 2021.
He was re-elected to the state legislative assembly in 2011.
