Former Assam MP Ramen Deka Sworn in as Governor of Chhattisgarh
Guwahati, 31st July: Ramen Deka, a former Lok Sabha member from Assam on July 31 was sworn in as the Governor of Chhattisgarh in a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan.
Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha administered the oath of office to Deka. The event was attended by an array of dignitaries, including Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, state ministers, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and senior bureaucrats.
Ramen Deka, who succeeds Bishwabhushan Harichandan, brings to the position a wealth of political experience. As a seasoned member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Deka has served as a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha, representing the Mangaldoi constituency. His roles within the BJP have included National Secretary and President of the BJP Assam Pradesh.
The swearing-in marks a new chapter for Deka, who is expected to leverage his extensive experience in his new gubernatorial role in Chhattisgarh.
