Former Assam SP Anand Mishra Campaigns as Independent Candidate in Bihar’s Buxar

Guwahati, 22nd April: Anand Mishra, the former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Assam’s Lakhimpur district, has embarked on a vigorous campaign trail as an independent candidate in Bihar’s Buxar district for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections, scheduled for June 1 in phase 7.

Campaigning tirelessly on his bike, Mishra traversed numerous villages and Gram Panchayats, engaging with people of all ages along the way. He expressed his delight at the palpable enthusiasm among the populace and emphasized the importance of personal interaction, noting the convenience afforded by his mode of travel.

Hailing from Bihar himself, Mishra resigned from his position as Lakhimpur’s SP in January this year, citing a desire to dedicate himself to social service and pursue personal aspirations. In his resignation letter to the Chief Secretary of the Assam Government, he articulated his commitment to the betterment of Bihar citizens and the exploration of personal and social goals.

Earlier, Mishra had advocated for the promotion of religious tourism in the district, drawing parallels to the significance of Ayodhya. He underscored the need for Buxar to establish its identity based on its rich religious heritage, lamenting the current lack of allure for tourists. Mishra asserted that with strong political influence and administrative measures, Buxar could unlock its potential as a tourist destination.
