Former Congress MLA Jonjonali Barua Passes Away
Guwahati, 30 May: Former Congress MLA and senior party leader Jonjonali Barua from Assam’s Morigaon passed away on Tuesday at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
According to reports, Jonjonali Barua was receiving treatment at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi for a long-term for her serious health condition. Later, Barua was transferred to the GMCH. Reportedly, the former MLA passed away today at around 6 am.
It should be mentioned that Barua was chosen as a Congress MLA from the Morigaon constituency three times in a row. In addition to being chosen as an MLA, Jonjonali Barua previously served as the former president of the Morigaon District Congress, vice president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and head of the Morigaon District Sports Association among other positions.
After the passing of the former party MLA, Morigaon district Congress unit expressed their condolences. Bhupen Borah, the head of the APCC also condoled for Jonjonali Barua’s passing. He shared an emotional message on Twitter, saying that the party has been left with an irreplaceable void as a result of her passing.
