Former Cricketer Suresh Raina to Make Acting Debut in Tamil Cinema
Sports: Chennai’s very own “Chinna Thala,” Suresh Raina, is officially stepping onto a new pitch: the silver screen, as production house Dream Knight Stories (DKS) announced his acting debut in an upcoming Tamil film.
The former Indian cricketer, revered by Chennai Super Kings fans, was introduced in a launch video by DKS, showing him walking into a packed cricket stadium, strongly suggesting a cricket-centric storyline for his cinematic venture.
While the film’s title and full plot remain under wraps, it will be directed by Logan and produced by D Saravana Kumar under the DKS banner.
DKS extended a warm welcome to Raina on Instagram, posting, “Welcoming Chinna Thala @sureshraina3 on board for #DKSProduction Nol!” a message that quickly went viral among CSK loyalists.
Adding to the cricketing flavour of the announcement, CSK’s own Shivam Dube also featured in the reveal, introducing the production house and its official logo.
Raina’s legendary status in Chennai is undeniable, cemented by his 7,988 runs from 322 international matches and a strike rate exceeding 92. He also holds the distinction of being the first Indian to score centuries in all three formats of the game.
His critical contributions to India’s 2011 World Cup triumph, particularly his knocks against Australia and Pakistan, are still cherished by fans.
In the IPL, Raina’s prowess earned him the moniker “Mr IPL,” with *5,528 runs in 205 matches. He was instrumental in all *four of Chennai Super Kings’ title victories, solidifying his icon status with the franchise.
Now, as the cameras prepare to roll, it appears Raina is ready to recreate his on-field magic, this time aiming for a box-office hit.
