Former DCW Chief Swati Maliwal Alleges Assault at Delhi CM’s Residence, Sparks Political Controversy
National Desk, 13th May: Swati Maliwal, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, made a serious accusation on May 13, alleging that she was assaulted at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence by his close aide, Bibhav Kumar.
Reports indicate that Maliwal made a distress call around 10 am from the Chief Minister’s residence, prompting a swift response from the Delhi Police, who promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the matter.
The alleged incident follows Bibhav Kumar’s recent termination by the Delhi Vigilance Department from his role as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary, citing an “illegal appointment” linked to a 2007 case involving assault and obstruction of a public servant from carrying out their duties.
The accusation has stirred further controversy within political circles, with Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT cell, highlighting Maliwal’s previous silence regarding Kejriwal’s arrest. Malviya pointed out, “AAP RS MP and former DCW chief Swati Maliwal alleges that Delhi CM’s PA assaulted her. Call made from Delhi CM’s House. Remember, Swati Maliwal had maintained radio silence on Kejriwal’s arrest. She was in fact not even in India at that time and didn’t return for a long time,” as posted on X.
The unfolding events have reignited debates and discussions surrounding the political landscape in Delhi, with Maliwal’s accusation against a close aide of Chief Minister Kejriwal raising questions about the internal dynamics within the AAP and its leadership. As the investigation progresses, the incident is likely to garner further scrutiny and attention from both political observers and the public alike.
