Former Handloom and Textile Director Kabita Deka Under Investigation for Corruption and Land Scam
Guwahati: The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) conducted a raid at the residence of Kabita Deka, the former Director of the Handloom and Textile Department, in Guwahati’s Jalukbari as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations.
The probe revolves around irregularities in appointments made during the 2019-20 period, specifically concerning six positions within the department.
Deka is also implicated in a land scam, further intensifying the charges against her. Authorities have revealed that she owns properties on RG Baruah Road and in the Beltola area of Guwahati. The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, is already handling an active case against her.
On Tuesday, the CM’s SVC filed a case related to the alleged scam, marking another step in the state’s efforts to crack down on corruption and misconduct. Investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to target individuals involved in corrupt practices.
