Awhai Andrew Shullai, former Chief Executive Member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), has officially resigned from the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) party. The resignation, which was announced on August 19, marks the end of Shullai’s association with the party.
Shullai, who currently represents the Jowai Central Constituency as a Member of the District Council (MDC), submitted his resignation letter to Meghalaya AITC President Charles Pyngrope. In the letter, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunities and support he received during his time with the party, particularly during the last Assembly Elections. However, Shullai did not specify his reasons for leaving.
Shullai’s resignation follows his unsuccessful attempt to secure the 2-Jowai Assembly seat in the 2023 elections, a setback that may have influenced his decision to part ways with the AITC.
