Former Prez Ram Nath Kovind Moves to New Residence at 12 Janpath
Guwahati: Former president Ram Nath Kovind on Monday shifted to his new residence on Janpath Road, taking up the bungalow that had previously belonged to former Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
Droupadi Murmu succeeded Kovind as the next president of India, and Kovind was driven from Rashtrapati Bhavan to his new residence.
As part of the convention, Murmu, the new President, was also present.
Paswan spent thirty years residing at 12 Janpath prior to his passing in 2020. His son Chirag Paswan had left the home in April after receiving an eviction notice.
According to national media reports, the bungalow was prepared for Kovind as his post-retirement residence.
He also posted images showing Kovind being received at 12 Janpath by BJP president J P Nadda, along with Union ministers Hardeep Puri and V K Singh.
Paswan, one of the country’s most prominent Dalit leaders, died at the age of 74 in October 2020. He had been a minister in central governments headed by parties of contrasting ideologies, ranging from the Janata Dal to the Congress and the BJP, since 1989.
