Former ULFA-I Cadre Arrested For Brandishing Pistol, Assault In Guwahati
Guwahati: City police detained two youths for attacking several persons in the Downtown area while brandishing a firearm in the middle of the street on Tuesday.
Both of the young people allegedly threatened a different group of pals with a gun and yelled insults at them in an incident that was reported from a nearby pan shop.
The specific reason for the altercation’s escalation is still ascertained; however reports claim that the pair got into one with the group.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The two accused have been identified as Raja Saikia and Manjit Saikia, both hailing from Nagaon.
Notably, Raja is a former member of the banned insurgent outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I). Reportedly, he recently submitted and joined the mainstream.
Meanwhile, the police detained both accused parties and filed a complaint.
According to authorities, further interrogation is being conducted.
