Guwahati, 27th December: In the midst of an ongoing crackdown on banned militant outfits in the state, Jitu Talukdar, formerly associated with ULFA and known as Jayanta Talukdar, has been apprehended in Nalbari for questioning.

On the night of December 23, Nalbari police detained him for questioning at his residence in Barbhag Katalkusi. Jitu Talukdar is currently undergoing police interrogation at Nalbari Sadar police station, extending over four days.

Meanwhile, in a related development, two youths from Nalbari, identified as Jayanta Talukdar and Biswajit Saud, have been arrested for their social media posts regarding the proscribed outfit ULFA-Independent (ULFA-I). Both individuals are accused of maintaining contact with ULFA-I and have been arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act following a thorough interrogation.

This news surfaces following a recent statement by Assam DGP GP Singh, emphasizing that individuals expressing support for any terrorist outfit on social media will face arrest.
