Guwahati, 3rd August: The recent murder of a retired engineer in Guwahati’s Hatigaon neighbourhood led to the arrest of four people, marking a huge victory for the Hatigaon police.
The three suspects, Darog Ali, Mahibul Islam, and Nur Mohammad alias Hasu, were apprehended by the Hatigaon police during an operation in the Baghbor neighbourhood of the Barpeta district.
Another person, identified as “Boga,” was captured in the district’s Tetelirtal neighbourhood.
Authorities claim that Darog Ali was initially detained as a result of reliable information. He provided the identities of three more people during questioning, which resulted in their arrests.
The murder’s motivation has not yet been made public.
The case centres on the murder of retired engineer Javed Ali Ahmed on Friends Path in the Hatigaon neighbourhood of Guwahati. Early on July 27, 2023, he was ambushed and assassinated while en route to the mosque.
