Fourth Victim Identified in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills Murder Case

Northeast Desk, 13th July: Police have identified the fourth victim in the shocking murder case that gripped East Jaintia Hills on July 6. The deceased has been confirmed as Loba Tamang, a resident of Umpleng.

A week earlier, the gruesome discovery of four bodies with multiple injuries and bound hands was made in Umpleng, sending shockwaves through the community. The victims were found in a secluded area behind the Umpleng market by labourers on the morning of July 6.

The other victims were previously identified as Rajesh Rai (26), Nasar Kyndait (33), and Ravi Rai (23). According to police sources, all four victims were known to be involved in drug use and peddling, hinting at a possible connection between the murders and local drug-related activities.

Authorities have arrested one suspect in connection with the case, but details about the arrest and the suspect’s identity remain undisclosed as the investigation continues. Law enforcement officials have emphasized that the investigation is still active, with efforts underway to identify and arrest additional individuals involved in the crime.

The discovery of the bodies, each showing signs of extreme violence, has raised serious concerns within the community. One victim’s injuries were particularly severe, with his head almost completely severed.

The police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of security to the area.
