Northeast Desk, 11th May: After nearly 15 days of waiting, a crucial freight train carrying fuel is finally en route to Tripura following disruptions caused by a derailment incident between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao in Assam’s Dima Hasao District. The incident exacerbated the fuel crisis in Tripura, but restoration efforts are now underway.

Sabyasachi Dey, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Frontier Railway, confirmed that 49 Bogie Tank wagons for petroleum products (BTPN) have departed Assam and successfully crossed the Jatinga Lumpur area. The freight train, comprising 19 BTPN wagons of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) and 30 BTPN wagons of Motor Spirit (MS) or Petrol, passed through the Jatinga Lumpur – New Harangajao section of Assam’s Dima Hasao District at 10:41 am.

Another official from Tripura Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs expressed optimism, stating that the train is expected to reach the Dharmanagar depot by evening.
