Imphal: Armed miscreants launched attacks from the hilltops of Kangpokpi district today, targeting peripheral areas including Sanasabi and Thamnapokpi in the Imphal East district.
This marks an escalation in tensions that have persisted since Christmas Eve.
According to local reports, the attackers fired bullets and allegedly launched bombs toward valley regions such as Thamnapokpi, Shantikhongbal, Sabungkhok, Khunou Sanasabi, and Sinam Kom village under Imphal East district.
Today’s incident saw armed individuals targeting Sanasabi, prompting a swift response from security personnel and local village volunteers.
The situation escalated into an exchange of gunfire between the attackers and the responders. The renewed violence has heightened concerns over safety in the affected areas.
Authorities are on high alert as efforts are underway to prevent further escalation and restore peace in the region.
