From Conflict to Prosperity: Assam CM Lauds Thriving Businesses in Former ULFA Hotspot Tinsukia
Guwahati, 7th December: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised the state police for the significant decline in the crime rate across the region.
In a press conference held in Guwahati, CM Sarma highlighted the resurgence of business establishments in Tinsukia district, once a hotspot for ULFA insurgency. He noted that businesses are flourishing to the extent that requests are pouring in from the community, urging shops to extend their operating hours until midnight in Tinsukia.
During his recent visit to Tinsukia, the chief minister shared, “Tinsukia businessmen approached me with a request to issue a notification allowing them to keep their shops open until 12 o’clock at night. While such requests are common for Guwahati, the Tinsukia National Chambers of Commerce submitted an application, requesting permission to operate seven days a week. They assured that employees would work on a rotational basis for six days a week, extending their services into the night. These changes are not just statistics; they are endorsed by the local populace.”
CM Sarma attributed the positive shift and reduction in crime rates to effective policing strategies and administrative reforms implemented in the region.
