Frustrated Youth Protest Last-Minute Guwahati-Silchar Train Cancellation Ahead of Army Recruitment Exam
Guwahati— Chaos erupted at Guwahati Railway Station last night after Indian Railways announced the sudden cancellation of the Guwahati-Silchar train, leaving numerous army recruitment candidates stranded. Many of the young passengers, who had traveled long distances across Assam and from neighboring states to attend the Silchar-based recruitment examination, were left disappointed and angry at the disruption.
The announcement, made just before the scheduled departure, fueled frustration among the hopeful candidates, who had planned to reach Silchar by the early morning to attend the army recruitment exam. In response to the abrupt change, large crowds gathered outside the Paltan Bazar Police Station, chanting slogans against Indian Railways as a way to voice their concerns.
The situation quickly escalated as the disheartened youth, recognizing the importance of the exam for their future careers, expressed their grievances. A police unit was dispatched to the scene to help manage the disturbance, restore order, and address the crowd.
