Fuel Supply to Mizoram Improving, Railway Track Repair Expected to Restore Normalcy
Northeast Desk, 7th May: The supply of petrol and diesel to Mizoram is gradually returning to normalcy after disruptions caused by damage to railway tracks between Lumding and Silchar in Assam, according to officials on Monday.
Lalmuansanga Ralte, Joint Director of Mizoram’s Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, reassured the public that fuel supply to Mizoram and other northeastern states was being restored, albeit through road transport from Guwahati, Assam.
Repair work on the damaged railway line is underway and expected to be completed by May 10, following which fuel supply is anticipated to stabilize.
Ralte emphasized that there will be no shortage of oil in Mizoram, alleviating concerns over potential scarcity. The state government had implemented rationing measures for the purchase of oil for various vehicle types on May 2, leading to long queues at filling stations. However, with the lifting of the rationing order on Monday, normal operations are expected to resume at fuel stations across the state.
The assurance provided by officials aims to mitigate any panic among residents and ensure a smooth transition back to regular fuel supply arrangements once the repair works on the railway track are concluded.
