G7 Urges India and Pakistan to De-escalate Amid Rising Military Conflict

The Group of Seven (G7) nations have issued a strong call for immediate de-escalation between India and Pakistan as military tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors continue to escalate. The powerful global coalition urged both nations to exercise maximum restraint and prioritize dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict.

The G7’s appeal comes at a critical juncture, with concerns mounting internationally over the potential for further military confrontation in the region. The group emphasized its ongoing vigilance regarding the situation and expressed its support for a swift and enduring diplomatic resolution to the crisis.

In a formal statement released today, the foreign ministers representing Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the High Representative of the European Union, unequivocally condemned the recent “egregious terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.” Following this condemnation, the G7 implored both India and Pakistan to demonstrate the utmost restraint in their actions.

The G7 ministers underscored the grave implications of further military escalation, stating that it “poses a serious threat to regional stability.” They also conveyed their profound concern for the safety and well-being of civilians residing on both sides of the border amidst the escalating tensions.

Concluding their statement, the G7 explicitly called for “immediate de-escalation” of the conflict. Furthermore, the group actively encouraged both India and Pakistan to “engage in direct dialogue towards a peaceful outcome,” highlighting diplomacy as the crucial pathway to resolving the current crisis and ensuring lasting stability in the region.
