Gambhir receives 3rd death threat within six days

Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir  received the third death threat within six days from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ on Sunday.

He received the mail on November 28, at 1:37 am and this time it was sent from the email address ‘isiskashmir@yahoo.com’.

This time the threat mail reads, “Your Delhi Police and IPS Shweta (DCP) cannot uproot anything. Our spies are also present in the police. All the information is being received about you,” the e-mail. Gambhir received the mail from isiskashmir@yahoo.com at around 1.37 am on Sunday.

Earlier on November 23, after receiving two death threats from ISIS Kashmir within 24 hours, Gambhir had filed a complaint with Delhi Police.

However, following the complaint the security has been beefed up outside Gambhir’s residence in Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar.

“We are going to kill you and your family,” read the first threat e-mail received from ‘ISIS Kashmir’.

The second threat mail read, “We intended to kill you, but you survived yesterday. If you love the life of your family, stay away from politics and the Kashmir issue.”

The second e-mail also had an attachment of a video shot outside Gautam Gambhir’s Delhi residence.

The officials of Delhi Police further informed that Gambhir’s complaint was marked to the Cyber Cell of the Special Cell to know the source of the mail and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Gambhir was elected to the Lok Sabha from East Delhi on a BJP ticket in 2019. Prior to entering politics, Gambhir played 15 years of international cricket for India, including a key role in the country’s 2011 World Cup victory.
