Northeast Desk, 14th September: Ganesh K. Rai has officially been elected as the new President of the Citizen Action Party (CAP)-Sikkim. Hailing from Melli Dara in Namchi District, Rai succeeds Bharat Basnett, becoming the third president of the party following his predecessors L.P. Kafley and Basnett.
The election, conducted in line with Article 27(d) of the party’s constitution, concluded without contest, affirming Rai’s unopposed victory. The Election Council of CAP-Sikkim issued an official certificate to Rai, confirming his appointment.
Both Albert Gurung, the Returning Officer of the Election Council, and H.B. Rai, the Chairman of the Council, endorsed the certificate, marking this significant leadership change within the party.
