Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court granted bail to one of the accused on Thursday who had been arrested in connection with the sludge extraction fraud at the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).
According to reports, the Gauhati High Court granted bail to the accused identified as Abhimanyu Medhi who was the accountant of GMC.
The initial target of the scheme was Medhi.
A few days ago, Seemantajyoti Baruah, an executive engineer for the Lakhra division was arrested by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell in Guwahati’s Anand Nagar.
It should be noted that 13 people in total were arrested in connection with the fraud.
