Gauhati HC Orders Action Against Guilty Officer In 100 Cr Fisheries Scam
Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court ordered action against the responsible officer on Tuesday in connection with a scam involving 100 crores of rupees in the fisheries department.
Reports claim that the order was made after petitions representing the public interest were heard.
Top fisheries department employees assisted in a scam that was carried out under the alias Matsya Jagaran.
The scheme’s cash were taken out without digging a pond.
The court gave the accused person a summons to court after hearing the scam case.
It also said that from now on, the scheme funds must be released in compliance with every provision of the law.
It should be noted that the Assam government launched “Matsya Jagaran- Ghare Ghare Phukuri Ghare Ghare Maach.”
The objectives of the scheme were:
- Expansion of fish culture area
- Enhancing fish production
- Socio-economic uplift of the rural people
- Creating self employment opportunity
