Gauhati HC Seeks For Detailed Affidavit on Fake Encounters
Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court said on Thursday asked a thorough affidavit regarding the fake encounters in Assam must be submitted.
There have been numerous encounters reported across the state over the previous few months. The people alleged that these encounters are fake.
The state Home Department was asked to present a thorough affidavit in court today, but they were unable to.
This is why the court has mandated a thorough affidavit for the upcoming hearing on November 14th.
Meanwhile, Prashant Bhushan participated in today’s session via video conference while he was in Delhi.
Notably, an advocate from New Delhi named Arif Jwadder has already petitioned the Gauhati High Court for a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to investigate the purportedly staged encounters by the Assam Police since May 2021.
Over 80 similar confrontations have occurred in Assam since the new administration took office in May of this year, the Guwahati-born counsel stated in the PIL.
