Gauhati High Court Celebrates 76 Years of Upholding Justice in Northeast India
Guwahati: The esteemed Gauhati High Court, a cornerstone of the judicial system in the northeastern region of India, today commemorated its 76th foundation day, marking over seven decades of unwavering commitment to the principles of law and justice.
Established on April 5, 1948, the institution initially served as the High Court for the then undivided state of Assam. Over the years, its jurisdiction expanded to encompass the states of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh, solidifying its pivotal role in the legal landscape of the Northeast. The court has been instrumental in protecting fundamental rights, providing crucial interpretations of the Indian Constitution, and ensuring the delivery of justice to countless individuals across the region.
