Gauhati High Court Grants Bail to Suspended SP in Assam Police SI Recruitment Exam Scam
Guwahati, 25th July: In the Assam Police Sub Inspector (SI) recruitment exam scam of 2020, the Gauhati High Court has granted bail to the suspended Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Sanjit Krishna, who was one of the accused in the case.
After nearly three years since his arrest, the court has approved bail for SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna, who was taken into custody by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on October 15, 2020, for his alleged involvement in the major recruitment exam scandal that shook the state.
The scandal came to light when a written test was conducted on September 20, 2020, to recruit Sub Inspectors for the Assam Police at various locations across the state. However, the examination had to be canceled due to the leak of question papers. Subsequently, Pradip Kumar, the then Chairman of the State Level Police Recruitment Board, filed a written FIR with the IGP (CID), highlighting that the leaked question papers had circulated on WhatsApp, necessitating the cancellation of the exam that was supposed to be held under the supervision of District Level Recruitment Committees.
The bail granted to SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna raises further questions and discussions about the investigation and the alleged involvement of other individuals in the recruitment exam scam. The court’s decision is likely to fuel public debate and demand for transparency in the ongoing investigation process.
As the case unfolds, authorities are expected to take stringent measures to ensure the integrity of future recruitment exams in the state and restore public trust in the selection process for law enforcement officers.
