The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has set up an Eye Bank, the First in the entire North East India. Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the eye Bank soon. The GMCH Authorities have already opened a help desk for the State Eye Bank.
The helpdesk can be reached at 8822380763 and 8822377199. “This is not only First Eye Bank of Assam, but also the First in the entire North-East. A Person can donate his/her eyes after the Six Hours of Death. Eyes of donated Person can save the vision of Two corneal blind People,” said an official.
