Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes Government Over Parliamentary Stalemate and Bangladesh Issues

Assam: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi voiced concern over parliamentary disruptions and criticized the government for its handling of both domestic and international matters, particularly those involving Bangladesh.

Speaking to reporters, Gogoi accused the government of missing opportunities to facilitate constructive discussions in Parliament. “Parliament would have functioned from day one itself had the Government accepted the Opposition’s suggestion. On the first day, we proposed a two-day discussion on the Constitution, but the government didn’t listen, leading to five wasted days,” he stated.

Gogoi also alleged that the government misled the House and called for an explanation regarding the delay in enabling debates. “They need to clarify why they misled the House,” he asserted.

The Congress leader highlighted his party’s consistent efforts to bring critical issues to the forefront, including India’s relations with neighboring Bangladesh. The Opposition has repeatedly pressed for parliamentary debates on such topics, emphasizing their importance to national and international policy.

Gogoi reaffirmed the Congress’s resolve to hold the government accountable and ensure timely deliberations on pressing matters. “We are committed to ensuring that these issues are addressed without further delays,” he concluded.

The ongoing parliamentary stalemate underscores growing tensions between the ruling and Opposition parties, as calls for open dialogue on sensitive issues remain unmet.
